Not Always Black and White
Hello! You may have noticed that it’s been a little quiet on the blog front, but I’m back! Believe it or not, I’ve had this blog for almost 5 years and this past month is probably the first time in 5 years that I’ve really taken a break from writing! In fact, I’m sort of taking a break from a lot of things this year to focus on myself and my marriage. I just got back from Hawaii a couple of weeks ago after some much needed R&R and have a couple more fun trips planned this year. Because of that, I won’t be going to as many cons as I typically do (not that I go that much), but it’s starting to look like my next con might just be SDCC! So what does that all mean?
To be honest, I’m not entirely sure! I’ve spent the past 20 years going to cons and probably the past 8 years or so doing the “cosplay life” – plan a trip for the con, make a cosplay, attend con, take photos, rinse, repeat. Despite the passion I have for costume making, this can definitely get tiring after a while. In addition, if you don’t have a partner who cosplays, this can easily get boring for them as well! You see the same booths on the con floors, the same special guests, and the same cosplayers. Everything starts look the same, con after con after con. This is exactly what happened a few years back when my husband started getting bored of the con scene and I started attending cons either alone or with friends. Nowadays, the only one we attend together is SDCC, which is awesome, don’t get me wrong, but after all our shenanigans last year, it started to make me think that maybe the two of us need to take more non-con related trips!
So even though I don’t know what’s going to happen this year con-wise, it doesn’t really matter since I’ll be with my hubby, having a blast. This Rogue One shirt is just a small reminder of how much he cares for me as it was wedding anniversary gift this year from him. I know it’s “just another Star Wars” tee, but trust me, it isn’t. :)

Hey Emily! Enjoyed your article. Glad to read that you’re taking time for yourself and making time for new things. If you’re planning to go to SVCC, it would be nice to bump into you, if not, hope to see you in July. Take care.

I’ll actually be gone that weekend of SVCC too! haha. That’s also why I’m not doing the Big Trouble group. :( SO SAD!!! But let’s definitely meet up at SDCC! YAY!

My husband bought me a shirt with the tree of Gondor on it as an anniversary gift one year, it’s a treasured gift. I’m really glad you’re taking more time to yourselves this year :-)

Yeah, it’s definitely a good reminder to spend quality time together. :)
